Check your Bridge eligibility

Answer 5 quick questions. We'll give you a clear, plain-English read on whether you likely qualify — no sign-up, nothing saved.

The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program ties coverage to your Part D enrollment and a qualifying medical condition. This tool mirrors the basic screening logic plans use. It does not collect or store any personal information, and it is not a coverage determination — only your plan can make that decision.

1. Are you currently enrolled in Medicare?

2. Do you have Medicare Part D (prescription drug) coverage?

3. Which best describes your qualifying condition?

4. Are you currently taking, or has a doctor recommended, a GLP-1 medication?

5. Do you already have a prior authorization on file for a GLP-1?

Based on your answers to the Bridge screening questions:

This is not a coverage decision.

Only your Medicare Part D plan can determine coverage. Use this as a starting point, then confirm with your plan and prescriber.

    What "qualifying condition" means

Medicare Part D coverage of GLP-1 medications has historically required a recognized medical indication rather than weight loss alone. Type 2 diabetes is the most established, and the FDA has approved certain GLP-1s (such as Wegovy) for reducing cardiovascular risk in some patients. The Bridge widened this: obesity paired with a related condition can now open coverage even without diabetes. See our covered drugs comparison and FAQ for details.

    The three ways to qualify

Beyond being enrolled in Part D, the Bridge opens through one of three medical paths. You only need to meet one of them. Each pairs a body-mass-index (BMI) threshold with a health condition, and the lower the BMI, the more specific the qualifying condition needs to be. Your prescriber documents which path applies when they submit the prior authorization.

Path 135 or higherNo additional condition required
Path 230 or higherHeart failure, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or chronic kidney disease
Path 327 or higherPrediabetes, a prior heart attack or stroke, or symptomatic peripheral artery disease

What you get once you qualify

If your prior authorization is approved, the Bridge sets a flat $50 monthly copay for a covered GLP-1 — no deductible toward it, and manufacturer coupons aren't needed. The arrangement runs from July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027. Covered medications include Wegovy (injection and oral), the Zepbound KwikPen, and Ozempic, among others, subject to your plan's formulary. Coverage is automatic through your existing Part D or Medicare Advantage plan once you meet a path and are approved — there is no separate program to enroll in.

Two things to keep in mind: the $50 copay does not count toward the 2026 Part D out-of-pocket cap, and a prior authorization is still required — the Bridge changes your cost, not the review. If you're ready for that step, our prior authorization guide walks through exactly what your prescriber submits.

    If you don't qualify yet

A "not yet" from this screening isn't the end of the conversation. Sometimes a qualifying condition simply hasn't been documented in your chart, and a visit with your prescriber to record current labs and comorbidities changes the picture. If you genuinely fall outside all three paths, there are still routes worth exploring — from manufacturer savings programs to state Medicaid coverage for those who are dual-eligible. Our guide to options beyond Medicare lays these out.

    Frequently asked questions

Do I need Type 2 diabetes to qualify?

No. Diabetes is one route, but the Bridge also covers people who qualify through a BMI threshold paired with a related condition such as heart failure, chronic kidney disease, prediabetes, or a prior heart attack or stroke. Obesity with a qualifying comorbidity can open coverage without a diabetes diagnosis.

Is being enrolled in Medicare enough on its own?

No. You need Part D prescription drug coverage (standalone or through Medicare Advantage) and one of the three qualifying medical paths. Medicare enrollment alone, without Part D or a qualifying condition, does not open Bridge coverage.

Does this tool decide my coverage?

No. This is a free screening that mirrors the basic logic plans use, and it stores nothing you enter. Only your Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage plan can make an actual coverage determination, which happens through prior authorization.

What does it cost if I qualify?

Once approved, a flat $50 monthly copay applies to a covered GLP-1 through December 31, 2027. Confirm your specific cost with your plan, since formularies and details vary.
